EPF vs EPS
Only part of your employer's 12% reaches your EPF account: 8.33% of wages (capped at ₹15,000, so at most ₹1,250 a month) goes to the Employees' Pension Scheme, which pays a monthly pension after 58 instead of a lump sum. This calculator shows only the EPF lump sum.

You contribute 12% of basic + DA. Your employer also contributes 12%, but 8.33% of wages up to ₹15,000 (max ₹1,250 a month) goes to the pension scheme (EPS); the rest goes to your EPF account. Voluntary PF (VPF) can be added on top.
What is the current EPF interest rate?
EPFO declares the rate every financial year (8.25% for recent years). Enter the latest declared rate above.
Is EPF tax-free?
Withdrawals after 5 years of continuous service are tax-free. Interest on your own contributions above ₹2.5 lakh a year is taxable.
When can I withdraw EPF?
In full at retirement (58) or after 2 months of unemployment; partial withdrawals are allowed for housing, education, marriage and medical needs.
