How the planner works
- Your monthly expenses are grown by inflation until retirement (₹50,000 today at 6% becomes about ₹2.87 lakh in 30 years).
- The corpus is the amount that, earning the after-retirement return, pays those expenses every year until your plan-until age, with expenses still rising with inflation.
- Your existing savings grow at the before-retirement return; the planner works out the monthly SIP (with your yearly increase) that fills the gap.
Estimates for planning, not financial advice. Review your plan every year.

Frequently asked questions
How much money do I need to retire in India?
It depends on your expenses, how far away retirement is and inflation. A family spending ₹50,000 a month today, retiring in 30 years and planning until 85, needs roughly ₹7–8 crore at retirement at 6% inflation, because ₹50,000 then buys what about ₹8,700 buys today. Enter your own numbers above.
What is the 25x or 4% rule, and does it work in India?
The 4% rule says a corpus of 25 times your yearly expenses lasts about 30 years. With Indian inflation of 5–7%, many planners use 30–35 times instead. This planner works it out year by year with your inflation and return assumptions.
Which return should I assume?
Before retirement, a mix of equity and debt might earn 10–12% a year; after retirement most people shift to safer options earning 6–8%. Lower assumptions give a safer plan.
Does this include EPF, NPS and PPF?
