GST formulas

  • Add GST: GST = amount × rate ÷ 100; total = amount + GST.
  • Remove GST: base = total ÷ (1 + rate ÷ 100); GST = total − base.
  • Intra-state: CGST = SGST = GST ÷ 2. Inter-state: IGST = GST.

Frequently asked questions

What are the GST rates in 2026?

Since GST 2.0 (22 September 2025) most goods and services fall under two main slabs, 5% and 18%, with 40% for luxury and "sin" goods. Some items are exempt (0%), and special rates such as 3% (gold) and 0.25% (rough diamonds) remain. Check the CBIC rate notification for a specific item.

How do I remove GST from a price (reverse GST)?

Choose Remove GST. Base price = inclusive price ÷ (1 + rate/100). For example, ₹1,180 including 18% GST has a base price of ₹1,000 and GST of ₹180.

What is CGST, SGST and IGST?

For a sale within the same state, GST is split equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state). For a sale to another state, the full GST is charged as IGST.

How do I add 18% GST?

Choose Add GST and 18%: total = amount × 1.18. ₹10,000 + 18% GST = ₹11,800.
