Frequently asked questions
How do I convert CGPA to percentage?
For CBSE, multiply by 9.5 (8.4 CGPA = 79.8%). Most universities following AICTE/UGC guidelines multiply by 10. Some use their own formula; always use the formula printed on your marksheet or published by your university.
Why does CBSE multiply by 9.5?
CBSE found that the average marks of students in the 91–100 band was about 95, so one grade point ≈ 9.5%.
What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?
SGPA is the grade point average for one semester. CGPA is the average across all semesters, weighted by credits. Convert CGPA for your overall percentage.
Which formula does my university use?
Sources online disagree for several universities (e.g. VTU, SPPU, Mumbai). Check your grade card or the university circular. You can type any formula into "Custom".
How do I convert percentage back to CGPA?
Use the reverse box: CGPA = percentage ÷ 9.5 for CBSE, or ÷ 10 for most universities.
